Loreauville: Beausoleil Broussard and the First Acadians
Acadian refugees deported from Atlantic Canada in the Grand Derangement had an indelible impact on Louisiana’s food, culture, and way of life. The first wave of these Acadian migrants arrived three hundred years ago to Louisiana’s shores near Loreauville in Iberia Parish. This week, we talked with descendants of these earlier settlers about their town’s rich history and what it means to be Acadian today.
